Triumph of Life

One of the most interesting and unusual pieces in the "Cradle of Life" collection is called "Triumph of Life." Like the others, the stone is egg-shaped and cut from golden quartz (citrine). Its entire surface is covered with a pattern of matte facets, representing the Flower of Life, with polished spaces between them. These spaces have a curved (convex) surface, so the matte "petals" have rounded edges. The top and bottom of the egg are formed by rows of polished facets with matte spaces between them. These spaces are formed by seven matte triangles, so small that the polished facets bounded by them also appear rounded. This is the first time these two techniques have been combined on a single stone.

The total number of facets on this stone is 1,951 (keeping in mind that each polished area between the petals of the Flower of Life counts as one facet, although seven were originally cut and then combined into one during the polishing stage). Thus, this quartz has the highest number of facets for this mineral, doubling the previous record. Currently, the most faceted quartz in the Guinness Book of World Records contains only 978 facets.
