Two Museums
March 21, 2023
What could possibly unite these two completely different museums, located on opposite sides of the globe? The prestigious, enormous, and world-famous Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., and the small, unassuming museum of the Far Eastern Higher Marine Engineering School (now the Maritime University), occupying just one room on the third floor of a campus in Vladivostok? One is in America, the other in Russia.

Precision Cutting in Thailand
April 7, 2019
Nothing stands still. Everything develops, everything evolves. The stone market is no exception. It's impossible to stop its development. But the development of specific areas in specific locations can be facilitated. Or hindered. Over time, new deposits are developed, and new factories are opened. With their emergence, Thailand's role as a mining and processing center is gradually diminishing. However, other factors are emerging that can strengthen this role and maintain the country's status as a market leader.

The Symbolism of Gemstone Cutting
March 9, 2014
Since ancient times, humans have adorned themselves with symbols. Initially, these included drawings and tattoos on the body, talismans and amulets on clothing, and later, jewelry. While jewelry often bore the image of a symbol, faceted stones merely complemented the design, enhancing its beauty, appeal, and, of course, price. Today's technology allows us to imbue the cut stone itself with meaning by incorporating symbols into the pattern of its facets.

The Global Success of the Russian School of Cutting
December 19, 2012
It's common to begin articles about the Russian School of Cutting with the following line: "It's well known that the term 'Russian Cut' has long been synonymous with the highest quality..." Well, in the diamond market, this is indeed a fact. But today, we're not talking about diamonds. Russian gemstone cutting isn't as well-known internationally, as Russia isn't a major supplier of colored stones to the market and is unlikely to significantly influence global cutting trends.

The Diamond's Younger Brother
September 1, 2011
The history of this stone began in 1905, when the Frenchman Henri Moissan discovered mysterious translucent crystals in a meteorite. Research revealed that they were silicon carbide, a chemical compound of silicon and carbon. The cosmic visitor was named Moissanite after its discoverer and immediately earned the nickname "the diamond from heaven," because it was only slightly different from a true diamond—the presence of silicon in the carbon crystal lattice.

About the Energy of Cut Stones
August 24, 2011
Let's talk about the energy of stones. I'll immediately point out that until precise science learns to detect subtle-material influences, it's unlikely anyone will be able to confirm or refute my reasoning, which means they have just as much right to be believed as any other opinion.

Interview with Myself
December 18, 2009
The path of a Master always involves mentorship. Even if the Master currently has no one to share their achievements with, a part of their consciousness is always the Student, continuously absorbing knowledge, skills, techniques, and methods of their craft, while another part is the Teacher, systematizing their experience, developing methodologies, and rigorously examining themselves.

Invitation to the Tale
March 25, 2009
The world of gemstones… Amazing, enchanting, magical. Gazing at the swift, fluid reflections in the perfectly patterned facets, it's as if you're dissolving in them, plunging into an oceanic abyss and simultaneously being carried away into the wide-open infinity of the universe. Today, we'll explore this world with expert gemologist, world champion in sport cutting, and the only Grand Master of the American Gem Cutters Guild in Russia, Viktor Tuzlukov.

It's Time to Collect Stones
March 23, 2007
I've long noticed that cut gemstones can influence a person's psychophysiological state. Some more strongly, others less so. A friend of mine told me, "When I observe the play of light on the facets of a master-crafted stone, I seem to dissolve into it; my headache disappears, my mood and overall well-being improve. But not all stones can do this." Reflecting on this, I came to the following conclusion. Our eyes see and register much more than the mind can consciously perceive.

Mexico. Echo of Bygone Times.
August 22, 2006
…Mexico greeted us very warmly, even joyfully. The gentle summer sun shone brightly, and even the smog hanging in the air didn't dampen the charm of the rapidly dawning new day. Slightly overwhelmed by the impressions we'd just received, we couldn't sit still in the hotel; after a quick bite, we set out on our first stroll through the capital of this ancient and distinctive nation.
